Yes....thank you for this Ben.

"building platform is no substitute for creating value"... YES!

i get so nauseated by all the scrambling to build platform. it feels fabricated and plastic. it's no longer about developing relationships or seeking to add value to someone else... it's all about connecting with the "right" people so you can get something from them.

i've had someone ask to meet with me to find out how i grew my blog and my personal strategies for platform building. the conversation ended when she was brazen enough to tell me she wished she had something traumatic happen in her life (like i did) because then she'd have a story to tell. that's sick and twisted beyond comprehension.

live your story and passion--whatever it may be--and use it to enrich and empower others, not to suck whatever you possibly can out of every relationship you have. seek to add value, not to get it. THAT, to me, is the truest form of platform building.

alece, amen and amen

Great stuff.

Spot on! Thanks.
