I caught a bit of Shark Tank the other week and entrepreneur Mark Cuban was on the show.
He's one of the sharks now apparently.
(Johhny Carson voice: "I did not know that.")
But he said something to one of the contestants that pierced me to the core. I can't even remember the rest of the show.
He said, "When I'm working on my business, I like to think -- 'What would I do to kick my own @#$?'"
In other words...
Where am I vulnerable?
What could someone do better than me?
How would I beat myself?
I promptly pulled out the Moleskine and devised a strategy to crush myself. It was brutal. The cargnage was merciless.
But it was also an incredible, eye-opening experience. It allowed me to step outside of myself and see a better approach.
Don't tell me, but I'm currently enacting the plan.
Oh this is so good... and painful. I am dead meat. But not for long! I'm about to defend my own take-down strategy.

Wow - such great questions. I'd love to sit down over coffee or lunch and hear much more!
BTW, if you're game... coffee.or.lunch.is.on.me!

Haha. Brilliant. "Don't tell me, but I'm currently enacting the plan."

Performing the exercise on your own is great, but have a close friend kick your butt too. Preferably one who isn't afraid to hurt feelings.
