This is good stuff. It took me a long time to realize that it's okay for there to be an imbalance.

I recently launched a kickstarter campaign, and several people I know gave hundreds of dollars each. I almost felt guilty until I talked to them and saw how much they loved being able to support my dream.

I think that gets to the heart of the issue: the imbalance in one area is made up in another. For me, the imbalance of finances (them supporting me) is made up for them in the joy they get from helping a friend succeed. It's a straight-across trade in their eyes.
