I grew up in the rural parts of the midwest where we dreamed of living someplace else. Nothing good can come from here, we thought. We yearned for bigger cities, brighter lights. There was nothing better to do than hang out with the wrong girlfriends and boyfriends in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
My convictions have changed. If there are greater things to be had - greater experiences, greater causes, greater purposes - they don't only happen out there. They can happen here.
People have given up. They've settled for less. Resigned themselves to a lesser life. So it's our job to redeem our communities. Revitalize our towns with astonishing acts of compassion. Surprise them with expressions of beauty. Awaken them with meaningful projects and visions...
I've got a project in mind -- I'm looking for a church or a group of people in a small, overlooked town that needs a fresh work. Something exciting to blow through your town. It's related to our them for STORY this year -- EVERYWHERE.
I don't know if this concept is the right fit for everyone, but if it's resonating with you, would love to explore a pretty exciting idea with you via email.
Long live the midwest!!

My mid-sized Indiana town could use this like you can not even begin to imagine. Would LOVE to talk to you about what you have in mind.
