I'm over conferences. The way they've always been, that is. Generally, there are three kinds of them:
The How-to Model
Nuts-and-bolts ideas with instructional break-outs and sessions full of fill-in-the-blanks.The Influence Model
The speakers are the draw. High profile folks. You see them at all the same events... a traveling herd. The Issues Model
Organized around an issue. When you hear the name of the event, you get the punchline.
But a new day's coming. There's a new kind of experience emerging that is reshaping the whole industry. And it's not the "unconference" where your mom is on the line-up.
But it's a movment that is greatly influencing how we design STORY. More on this soon.
Hey Ben,
I wrote this for Big Bible the other day...
'the end of conferences as we know them?'

I'm stoked to see what's coming. STORY is a highlight of my year.

I'm with you! I, too, have become very tired of conferences and their hum-drum formats and activities. I want to be a part of a conference that's new and fresh, not the same old thing! You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to hearing about this "new" type of conference that you speak of. Hurry with details, please!
