For some reason, that part made me giggle. :)

Good Afternoon Ben, I clicked on your Dream Year Link and it does not work... (message from NetFirms, "account suspended") you probably know this already, but just in case...

Ben, I'm so excited for STORY this year, but truth be told, i'd come just to see Listener! :) Good work on bringing in the best and most unexpected.

ashley it's not over. we're announcing some other names soon that will excite you even more... =)

hey dennis, thanks much, we forgot to renew =( but took care of it yesterday. it's up now

I was hoping to make it back again this year, but the finances are conspiring against me... Gutted. But so excited for all who are going.

Ben, I believe that both years were successful for different reasons. I enjoyed both years, but the 2nd did seem much tighter and focused. It genuinely was what I had hoped for and based on the conversations happening during and post event was what we were all looking for the previous year. We will all have those first years and though they may not be what we expected are valuable. I believe that first year was necessary for you to refine your vision and create that focus you have developed on what Story is.

Kudo’s for what you have accomplished and all that Story brings to the Creative Class.

cyril

cyril thanks for the thoughtful response... and for supporting it both years. we still have a long way to go, but grateful for how God has shaped it.

I want to make it to this some time, seems awesome. But I'm a communicator. I think pastors and communicators should set the bar in areas of creativity like to prophets of old who were prophets and performers communicating the most urgent messages. I think part of the problem with many churches and this world in general is that pastors are academic and others folks are the "creatives". I think we can do better than that.

good thoughts erik. i was guilty of simply lecturing until my final weeks as the pastor of RCC. but i started trying some more narrative forms of preaching toward the end. would love to see more of that....

So you think you failed the first year eh? I disagree and here's why:

I implored a couple of friends to come with me to Story Chicago Part I to see what it was all about and what we could learn. I was personally yearning for a boost creatively and a renewed why of thinking. Personal Mission accomplished.

After talking with one of my buds afterwards I wasn't sure he took away anything. Well, he's in the process of producing his first feature film, a story about love, relationships, and faith. On the way to grab some last minute who who dealies before filming the first scenes yesterday he told me that one of his inspirations for writing the film was his experience at Story Chicago. Huh? Say what? Yep.

I had to come back to this post just to let you know that at least 3 of us were inspired if not transformed by the first Story Chicago experience.

Thx homie!
