So apparently, there are two types of people. Those who best comprehend information by reading it... and those who best comprehend info by hearing it. (I think this comes from Malcolm Gladwell, just can't remember where.)
He talked about how members of Britain's parliament need to be audible comprehenders to successfully debate issues. They can be brilliant thinkers and great leaders, but if they can't quickly process spoken words, they look like morons.
I'm pretty sure I'm one of the readers. Sometimes when people ask me something, I answer a completely different question.
There is actually a third: haptic. It's the sense of touch, of doing. For most of us 21st century dwellers, this goes under the radar but if you are someone who thinks more clearly while going for a jog or if you have worn out a pacing path in your office, you are a haptic learner (also, if you consider yourself an artist, you are most likely haptic.)
For me, if I hear something or read something I'm okay, but if I really want to fully embrace an idea or memorize something i have to write it out long hand and then think about it while DOING something.
And who says a psychology degree is worthless ;)
