This is my language.
I am the Creative Director at a Christian camp in SC, and I focus on the senses. In fact, I even made up a name for my focus -- I call it Sensory Redemption. I hope it is original... let me check Google.
Yup. All good. Now I can make that million.
My drive behind Sensory Redemption is simple: God gave us these marvelous gifts called our senses. Being fallen creatures, we once again took God's gifts and perverted them. We attack and annoy and callous our senses everyday. There are people making big money by abusing our senses. We fall prey to our senses. My desire at camp and the things I do is to redeem them -- demonstrate to people that our senses are amazing, good and can even bring God glory by actually and tangibly experiencing the people, the beauty and the world around us.
Thank you for this post and for confirming the fact that I am not the only overly sensitive person in the world. I would like to shake your hand...
...maybe at Story -- see you there.

Stephen King's "On Writing" is ranked very highly on my list of enjoyable reads. :) I was reading your post, enjoy the thoughts, and then it was like my entire train of thought was hijacked. As soon as I saw "On Writing," I immediate thought, "I should read that again. that was a great read!" :) So I'm off to hunt for the book...
