Slow Moving Portable Church
Portable Church is acting like the monopoly that it is... slow service. =) I finally got through to a sales rep today in follow-up from our consultation. But they don't act like we're about to give them $30,000+. [I was just thinking... it's dangerous to offer bad customer service in the age of blogging.]
The Tents of Cavalia
On our DC vision tour for pastors last week, Ainsley and I saw the tents of Cavalia by the Pentagon [cirque de soleil on horses]. After plunking down some substantial change for u2... I fold.
Soundtrack for Your Church
Soundtracks are important to branding... the Intel sound, the NBC sound, etc. Even the video game Age of Empires offers their soundtrack for downloading. Churches that podcast could easily brand a soundtrack as well... theater churches could play the Dolby-surround theme; metro-station churches could play the door-closing chime. I'm trying to think of a soundtrack for village center churches. =)
Constructive Criticism
We received a surprise visit from a fellow church planter this past Sunday. I was quick to fire-off an e-mail to him this morning, asking for constructive criticism. He was very encouraging, but he advised us to add parking lot greeters [in addition to door greeters] and to reposition our announcements during the service.
History Catalog Pre-orders
Before our catalog of ministry resources has even gone to press... we've received several pre-orders [one paid for a new 32-channel sound mixer]. I'm cranking to get this out the door by the first week of November.
Full-page Student Newspaper ad
We're taking out a full-page ad in Westfield High School's student newspaper to celebrate the homecoming queen victory of a gal who attends our church [she happens to be the senior class president and newspaper editor too]. The teacher/advisor promised to keep it secret, and have some other students design it for us. He knocked $100 off the price ~ it's a 28-page, 3-section newspaper that gets mailed home to every student's family.
