Our little girl is five days old today. She's already staring wide-eyed into our faces and showing personal preferences for how she wants to be held.
We named her Annie.
Annie because we've got three cowboys - Wyatt, Dylan and Cody - and couldn't bring ourselves to break the cycle. But also because we love the spirit of this American icon. To come at life in an unconventional way. To chase her dreams.
Naming a child is an act of faith.
You bestow upon her what you hope for her life. But then you sit back, watch and wait to see which way she'll go... how she'll make her name her own.
I think we're in for an amazing journey. I don't think I'll be able to watch "Father of the Bride" the same way again. But here's to the beginning of a dreamer's life.

My wife asked me what I thought you'd name your daughter, and I guessed Annie for all of the reasons listed above.
Congrats again, friend. Daughters are a blast.

We named our daughter Evangeline which means messenger of good news or God's angel. She is 16 now and both of those. One of our son's is named Abel, that was his given name in Ethiopia, we got him when he was 6. It mean's Approved of by God. And he is. Our other son we named Steele after the Pittsburg Steelers, my husbands favorite team. We adopted him at birth. Steele means, hard cold and immovable, can only be molded by intense heat. Let me tell you, he lives up to all that :-)
