When Brian Becker entered Dream Year last January, he was exploring cities throughout Oregon to plant a church. He was on-staff at a church in Portland and felt that he needed to move elsewhere to start a new one.
I had just spent the year writing Church in the Making, which is all about planting churches with momentum (not starting something from scratch; rather, planting out of the existing work of God). So I laid it on thick. And I mean thick.
Brian took it to heart and decided to approach his pastor for an audacious ask. Would... he... (gasp)... give... him his blessing to start a church in Portland.
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
His pastor not only blessed him, but he offered him financial support and -get this- decided to lead the church's campus in Vancouver... and let Brian take Portland. Wow.
So Brian and Jenn are launching Hope City Church in downtown Portland near Reed College this February with strong momentum, nearly 50 people in their core... and a powerful "Launch Hope City" campaign behind them.
Go #dreamyear

Thanks Ben. DreamYear was a Godsend. The story is just unfolding, but it's been a great start.
