I've been courting you for a while now. I love everything about you except your harsh winters. I suspect it makes people stronger, but it still confounds me how they endure you three months out of the year.
You have the most creative people I've ever met. There's a new creative class emerging around you. And their potential is without limitation. But there's something holding them back. I detect chain-of-command. Hesitation. Budgetary limitations. Realistic thinking. A "waiting-for-permission" culture.
I don't know if it was all the world changers you produced, such as DL Moody and Bill Hybels. But somehow it bred insecurity in the next generation to do greater things than these.
I've made a date with you, Chicago. September 23 and 24. We're bringing STORY to you. And we're going to change all that.

Reading that description, you would think I lived in Chicago. I'm ready for the change, though, and I'll be there!

Yes! Also, Ben, I have a theory: Des Moines used to be the "not as cool as Chicago" city in the Midwest, but is emerging as a powerhouse of Kingdom creativity.
Evidence: your Dream Year guys from Des Moines.
It makes me excited to be moving back in this coming season.
Excited for STORY!
