Very true about asking for favors. Why is it so hard to be on the asking side and so easy to be on the giving side? I need to stop thinking of asking as a sign of weakness - God designed us for community!

Dude, I had my hands on that album this morn! I was ready to buy it (bc I love EVERYTHING Sting does) but better wait till payday.

absolutely Rebecca... i think when we stop asking, it means our vision is too small. If we only rely on ourselves, then woe is us.

there were a surprising number of women in the man cave though, i'll have to say. =)

Ben,
Thanks for the shout-out! And the comment on my blog.

I met you in the hallway at The Orchard briefly - said thanks for a great event, but didn't want to take up your time by introducing myself. I direct some events also (much smaller than you do) but I know how many things are going through your head during an event.

Actually it's because of a monthly event I direct that I was at Story. I direct iHope - an event where we try to share hope through stories and beauty. One person tells her life story each month - the good, bad and ugly - surrounded by art, music and food. So when I heard of Story I wanted to be there! And I'm glad I was.

Looking forward to meeting someday,
Janet

Thanks for the rundown! Awesome stuff here. Janet's story is definitely inspiring.

Well - seeing that you have a 160 emails that you have not cracked make me think that I shouldn't send you one to get together for a cup of Chai Latte. I will get together at some point with you just to chat for about an hour in Greenbrier.

Great perspective on the favor asking note. Making the ask is a good way to find out who is truly behind us. I've never felt less of someone who asked me for help. Those who help often see the ask as an opportunity rather than an obligation.
