I feel bad for my team at STORY. They're almost all volunteering, and I've pushed them and pushed them until it hurts. There are days when I felt like my reputation and our friendship is in question. I came across something that blew fresh wind through my spirit this morning.
It's an e-mail that STORY designer Kevin Sterner sent me early in the process of shaping this event. He quoted...
Excellence can be obtained if you:
- risk more than others think is safe;
- dream more than others think is practical;
- expect more than others think is possible.
That describes an idiot.
I think I'm there. =)

Even the disciples were ordinary men considered by most to be idiots. You're in good company.

If you're an idiot, I'm an idiot with you bro. STORY will help people tell HIS story. I am glad to be serving alongside you. There are other awesome people I am serving with that want to be idiots too. So, be encouraged, there is a train load of idiots following a lead idiot:)

Believe the original quote was from Howard Schultz, founder of Starbucks. There's an "idiot" who changed culture simply by changing the way he PRESENTED something very simple and basic. Would that God's people should embrace such idiocy!

The difference between an idiot and those who achieve greatness is that the idiot stumbles through life without a plan or agenda.
They care too much about foolish things, they take risks without any hope of reward, they dream without a plan to succeed, and they expect things that they haven't earned.
Those who seek excellence may appear to be idiots by ordinary people who can't appreciate the difference.
