The farther away I get from being a pastor, the more I'm gaining the eyes of an outsider.
I'm sad to say that we've created a church culture for ourselves that we mistakenly call biblical. It's based more on our preferences and habits than on scripture, and it's causing a growing chasm between the church and the outside world.
We don't notice it until we get some distance from it.
Or until a book like Missional Renaissance comes along. Got my advance copy from Reggie McNeal, and let's just say it's been written for such a time as this.

Reggie rocked my world five years ago with "The Present Future." Every church leader needs an IV drip to Reggie's insights.
Does Reggie twitter?

Right on Ben. I see this so much in my charismatic distinctive. It is largely about preference under the guise of being spirit-led. The emerging generations see right through it. Can't wait to read Reggie's book.

Another essential read coming out. I can't wait either - I'm tired of the same old same old.

Could you post a review on this book, or perhaps some more insight into it.
