Nobody - and when I say that, I mean pastors - ever gets a fair shake on the Colbert Report. It doesn't matter how important the topic, sometimes we just can't come off well in certain environments.... Ed did a great job. But some sitches are just lose-lose.

I dig the Colbert Report. Funny stuff. But I don't think it's a good venue to appear on if you have anything serious to say. Thankfully, I'll never have to wrestle with whether or not I should "do the show." :) And I'm not slamming Ed at all. It's true, evangelicals don't get a fair shake on TV, but I think we can attempt to be wise about what we choose to appear on. Driscoll was recently on Nightline and also addressed the issue of preaching on sex. There too, we didn't get a fully developed picture of Mark/Mars Hill, but he and the subject was at least treated with respect.

It looks like Ed came off well. Colbert just had a little fun with it but I didn't see anything disrespectful or wrong here. That's his schtick.

his schtick is funny, but let's be real. it's mockery.

Ha! That's funny. I just watched this today and told my wife that if I were a well known pastor, you'd be hard pressed to get me to go on The Colbert Report.

I thought he went easy on Ed. I expected Colbert to hit harder than that.

I'm with Scott and Barton. Ed Young came off very well and Colbert went awfully easy on him. Best possible outcome, frankly. And if someone things "Really? A pastor ... and this self-effacing, well-humored guy at that ... is telling those in his church to take their bedroom life far more seriously? Huh ... I'd have never guessed." ... then it's a win.
