Esquire Features Big-Haired Pastor
I debated posting this because I'm biting off Barton's blog again, =) but it's interesting. Esquire magazine features the pastor of Washington DC's mega-Mclean Bible Church, Lon Solomon, in a fun interview. Lon's one of those guys who doesn't give a rat's rear end about the conference circuit or what people think of him. He's just taking the DC area by storm - 15,000 people and climbing. Mclean is the reason for the dip in northern Virginia's church planting climate.

wow Ben,
it sounds almost weird to hear of a mega Church pastor who's not into gaining success on the conference circuit or who's trying to get a book deal or make his star rise even more.
In my view that's true focus . . . and humility: as Jim Collins said it at Catalyst 08. "Not a sense of anaemic weakness but understanding their work is more about the cause of the organization - or The Kingdom of God- than it is about them."
