Tuesday Talking Points

  • My friend Brenton quoted Mark Driscoll: "Every church will contextualize. The question is what year will you contextualize to."
  • Got to hang out with Nelson Searcy, Bob Franquiz, and Scott Whitaker last night... talked church planting.
  • Having lunch with Dan Reiland and our CEO Jeremie Kubicek today.
  • LV got a great interview with Johnny Hunt yesterday - prez of the SBC. Should be airing soon.
  • After months of waiting, we fiiiinally scored a HUGE get for Catalyst west. A speaker I've been dying to add... finally accepted.
  • I'm hosting the church planter track at Catalyst Labs this year - still time to register to hear Mark Batterson, Jon Tyson, Dave Ferguson, and Ed Stetzer.
  • Jon Tyson just changed the name of his church - Origins - to Trinity Grace Church. You know, we did the same at Reston Community Church. It was originally "History Church."
  • Incidentally, Catalyst Labs - in and of itself - is actually becoming one of the largest ministry leader events in the country - but very edgy.
  • Enjoyed coffee with Mr. Church Planters.com last week - Shawn Lovejoy. Was honored to get invited to speak at a breakout at this February's event.
  • Someone in our company got this e-mail yesterday: "Ben (whoever he is) needs to learn protocol..." - ouch - But hey, I wouldn't be much of an Innovation Director if I didn't take some heat.
  • Saw the newly printed Notezines for Catalyst yesterday - they look incredible.
  • We are relaunching Catalyst Filter at this year's event. It'll come with a quarterly "Aqua Box" filled with great resources. Cost is $144, or you can get it as a part of the Group Experience Kit for $199.
