I don't know why I'm in a list-making mood this week. =)
- Today, I got to chat with Dan Reiland, who is the long-time author of The Pastor's Coach. What an amazingly encouraging and insightful guy. Loved every minute of our conversation.
- Also got to chat with Chris Hodges, pastor of the big honkin' Church of the Highlands. Chris is one of the founders of ARC. Church planting oozes out of this guy.
- Successful negotiation depends on two things: 1. Not appearing to be the final decision maker (even if you are), and 2. Holding your tongue no matter how awkward the silence. He who speaks first... loses.
- Camron Ware continues to blows me away with his lighting design. Why this guy still needs a day job is beyond me. Thanks to Brian Pirkle - producer extraordinairre - for the link.
- I only got 4 hours of sleep last night. Wyatt started preschool last week, and he's bringing home every germ in Gwinnett County. A plague's upon me house.
- When was the last time you asked someone to tell the truth about you? We spend most of our time wincing and avoiding it. But who can you invite to speak truth into you?
- This is the first time in my life I've had non-ministry dreams. At first, I felt guilty. But then I realized that some of my ministry dreams were coated with a sense of religious obligation.
- My good friend Jay Hardwick called me this morning. Love that guy. You know, my pre-Catalyst friends have dropped off the map. No frequent phone calls anymore. But I think it's because I have office hours now.
- I'm going to get some cowboys hats for my boys and shoot our family Christmas photo early this year ... Okay, this will be the first Christmas photo we've ever shot. But we're farther from home now.
- Starbucks is serving oatmeal now. Just in time for fall.
- Canadian pastor Jason Boucher e-mailed me a really interesting idea this morning. I'm dying to visit Quebec - so I'm hoping he goes for it.

I think the Christmas photo with the cowboys hats should also include your big honkin' F-150 =)

In regard to Dan Reiland, I have known him for over 15 years and believe he is by far the best pastor coach in the world. He has the wisdom of Solomon. He equips and empowers. He is a strong leadership developer. He is humble. Pastors love him. He has a incredible love for the church. Many out there inspire but Dan has a unique effect on those he coaches.

speaking of religious obligation.
i think i shed this when i left the church planting world too.
now they hate me because i won't sign up to "serve" in the nursery.
you win some, you lose some.
