"When you look at the empirical record, you not only see that venture capitalists do better than entrepreneurs, but publishers do better than writers, dealers do better than artists, and science does better than the scientist. The person involved in such gambles is paid in currency other than material success: hope." ~The Black Swan
I believe there are many struggling pastors who experience far less anointing / blessing / return on investment in their lives because they settle for the currency of hope, rather than what God could do through them by supporting someone else in a less glamorous, but ultimately more impactful role in the kingdom of God. I'm one of them. Since stepping away from the pulpit, I've experienced more anointing, more joy, more influence, and more blessing than I ever knew as a pastor. Not that it was a mistake, don't get me wrong. But when God called me to my new role, I made out in the currency exchange.

Ben,
Deep thoughts. Thank you. Question: How did you know that you needed to make the "exchange"?
