Here's a Good Nugget
We had an executive from Chick-Fil-A visit yesterday to talk about leadership. He said something fascinating about their company...
- The average fast food store does $800,000 a year
- McDonalds, the clear frontrunner, does $1.9 million per store
- Chick-Fil-A, which is closed on Sundays, does a shocking $2.8 million per store
He wasn't trying to criticize McDonalds, but said the golden arches had violated something sacred on their way to the top,
which has adversely affected their revenue. Somewhere along the way, It became more about the money than the quality of the people.
Wow. So relevant to the church. If I beat on any drum, it's about the quality of the disciples we're making. It is entirely possible to be so focused on reaching more people that we violate something sacred along the way to fulfilling the Great Commission.
Well played! How do we focus on making quality disciples? Are there non-obvious things we need to do? Non-obvious things we need to stop doing?

I wonder if we are really making disciples, or just making converts? Somewhere along the way it seems like we got to thinking that being a Christian was about making a decision, and lost sight of the fact that it is an every day decision to deny self and follow Jesus.

Thanks for sharing the "nugget!" That is something to keep any leader thinking for a long time!

And not only forgetting about disciples... but what about forgetting our families for the "work" of the church.

solid, ben.
reproduction begins at the smallest level (disciple) and works its way out (movement). can't reproduce if we don't produce.
