I think Twitter has improved blogging. Fewer post with more substantial content and not just updates on random things...The two apps work good together.

blogging for an audience may be short lived, but you are right, Ben. Good writing never goes out of style.

i read recently that being published doesn't make someone a "writer". Writing does.

For many, blogging has provided a platform for them to develop the discipline and experience the joy of writing. For those who care nothing about having an audience, blogging will be around for a good long time!

It will be interesting. For me personally, blogging has been a great experience for networking, for bragging on what God is doing here, for sharing what I am learning, for learning from others, etc.

I love blogging but I love writing so I am drawn to it. However, it has become a burden in many ways. I felt this pressure to post every day whether I had something to say or not.

That is no one's fault but mine but I put all this pressure on myself because church planters and leaders were contacting us every day.

By posting every day it watered down what I was doing and took the fun away.

Twitter is great for keeping up with friends and what I am doing and it has affected blogs big time. The guys I keep up with are hardly posting anymore at all.

But I think blogs will remain and be more focused which is a good thing. I am taking a semi-break on mine for the month but I plan on getting it back going in July with a more focused purpose.

Do what? I just started a blog. Cursid twitter!

I think 140 characters is very efficient, but I Don't like the twitter UI, I want more updates on one page, and maybe group them by subject?

don't think twitter is strong enough to replace blogging, but I agree that we're trending toward shorter bits of information. Blogs are a useful place to store the information. If Facebook ever allows you to see someone's page that's not your friend, and you could link to it from outside, that might diminish blogging
