I seriously heard this on the radio yesterday. Don't get me wrong... I agree with John's statement, but the follow-up from the announcer is exactly why I cringe at Christianity today.
JOHN MACARTHUR: "The person who is truly saved is saved with difficulty. Salvation is not easy. The gate is small; it's hard to find; and there's a certain violence in getting through it... The kingdom is for people who want their life changed, who want to avoid hell, but have come to the point where they are willing to go through a violent time of conviction and self-hatred and penitence and brokenness to the degree where they literally abandon everything for Christ."
ANNOUNCER: Keep in mind that Grace To You's Alaska Cruise is coming up June 21-28. To sign up or get more information, call Inspiration Cruises at...

Corporate "Christianity". This kind of thinking is a throw back to the "rock star" mentality that the Corinthians had. John Macarthur rocked in what he said and then they push their agenda without even a timely transitional thought. Amazingly sad.

G2Y has solid teaching but yea... they need to evaluate how they close the program.

A definite need for evaluation.

um, MacArthur apologist here.
This criticism is coming from a blog for a guy with his own "Whiteboard Sessions" conference which is, frankly, chock-full of evangelical "rock stars".
Please check the mirror before you leave the house.

umm, I wasn't criticizing the statement or the cruise. I support the statement wholeheartedly, and I'm sure I'd enjoy a good cruise. I was cringing at the placement of this announcement after this particular statement.
By the way, I'm not a pastor promoting an event. I'm an event promoter promoting an event. No contradiction.
