Had such an interesting morning at RCC. I chucked the message to take a risk on testimonies. I sensed on Friday night that message #1 wasn't green-lit, and message #2 on Saturday wasn't right either. Glad I shut-up for one week. Our folks came to the microphone one after another to share some incredible things God has done in their lives. Big risk because we had tons of guests today.
Another local church is shaking its branches, so we've had a few visitors from the fall-out. I had to endure a bit of an interrogation after service... which is usually the case when Christians have suffered bad experiences in other churches. I want to be sensitive to the soft spots people have, but I have to say that our church is not right for every believer. We're a church on a mission. If your first questions are about attendance figures, how much money the church takes-in, and what my theological pedigree looks like... we're almost certainly not the church for you.

Just wanted to say that I thought church was awesome today. I think hearing others testimonies are so powerful and important for others to hear. Very bold move.

thanks Katie. You did a great job!
The way I wrote this post makes it sound like I don't like when other Christians visit our church -- not true! I love it! I just got the sense from one particular individual that we weren't the right fit. Not a bad thing at all. God has a place for everyone!

Thanks for taking the risk, Ben... thanks for stepping out of the "preaching boat". So many of us would've gone ahead and preached A DUD anyway... thanks for letting us see that IT'S OKAY to deviate from the norm sometimes!
