Our church is doing something pretty radical this Saturday. As part of the process to
assess our church's health, 6 local pastors (and good friends of mine) are going to help us interview people in RCC. Our chief organizer, Tony Hooten, is scheduling families in our church for one-hour appointments this Saturday... just like an Olan Mills photo shoot! Sure, it feels like a spiritual colonoscopy, =) but I just decided I'm not going to be a pastor that's afraid to know the truth... or speak it for that matter.

my face hurts from laughing so hard at that olan mills link...frickin hilarious!
oh...the post was good, too! :-)

Ben - I think that this is an outstanding idea in the life of a church. I think that it will be a great way to collect stories of God's work in the world, to hear hopes and dreams for the future as well as suggestions on what might be better. Are you planning to record or document the stories? Do you have a set of questions or will it be a open conversation? What do you hope will be the results of the conversations? How will leadership of the church utilize the results?
Alright, enough questions for now. Thanks for the post!

andrew I'm really just on the receiving end of this consultation process. These are six local pastors interviewing our folks so I have no hand in it. Thanks for your perspective though. That's really inspiring.

Ben - Nice. Thanks for the response. Will you see the results from these interviews?

yes andrew... not only from the interviews, but from some extensive surveys of our folks and evaluation of 4 weeks of my messages.
