I'm loving the book of 1 Samuel for my devotional life these days. Two interesting things I pulled out of today's reading:
"David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam... All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their leader." [22:1-2]
The idea of David ~ the future king of Israel ~ becoming a leader on an Island of Misfits is so funny to me. Our image of leadership is so glamorized. God uses the foolish to shame the wise.
"[Abigail] was an intelligent and beautiful woman..." David said to Abigail, "Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who has sent you today to meet me. May you be blessed for your good judgment..." "Then David sent word to Abigail, asking her to become his wife." [25:3,32-33,39]
I'm no David, but Abigail totally makes me think of Ainsley.

Ainsley is the BEST! ! ! Ainsley doesn't get upset about things. She takes the high road.
