One of my big pet peeves in services is lag time between transitions, whether it's video, audio, whatever.
And it's not always the tech teams' fault: only the speaker or worship leader knows that his part is coming to an end or a cue is coming up. The sound guy often has to wait and see...
For over 6 years, I've had my eye on an Instant Replay machine from 360 Systems . These bad boys are what radio djs use to cue music, sound effects, tags, etc, and play them instantly on command. I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on it because it would foster so much other creativity from a programmatic standpoint. And all from the stage.

The Instant replay is a great device! But lag time is easily fixed with great communication and practice. As tech director its my job to hit transitions(in the way the teaching pastor wants them hit. I get the exact wording from the speaking pastor along with the feel he wants in the transition, these go on the cue sheets that go out to everyone teching that day and then we practice the transitions prior to the first service. All of them. It takes time and effort and trust building but its worth it.
