A friend shared with me Elevation Church's org chart, which displayed a remarkable similarity to concepts from Michael Gerber's best-selling book The E-Myth. Basically, this says that you create an org chart for how you see your church in 5, 10, 20 years and fill-in every blank with a name, even if your name goes in every single slot! This way, you work toward a goal, rather than wait for something to happen.
The next important step is creating job descriptions for each and every one of those roles based on proven principles for effectiveness. At this point, it's just a matter of praying for the right person, casting vision to them, training them on the job description, and asking for a commitment. This is a practice Matt and I fully employ at History.

Ben,
Could you share the wealth and email me a copy of it?

Hey count me in too please. I've heard of the book before somewhere but now I'm going to buy it. By the way I got the fund raising book you recommended by C Tolson. Thanks. I appreciate the advice and input.

I'd love to see one too, if you don't mind. Sounds like something we need to put together and would greatly help us be proactive!
