Last time we met in a theater 3 years ago, we fully embraced the "theater church" identity [popcorn buckets for offering, the "now showing" slogans on our signage, and concession-stand candy for guests]. This time around is different. Rather than emphasizing the theater, we're identifying ourselves with the Town Center setting. By the time our service starts on Sunday mornings, the Reston Town Center will be coming alive with high-rise residents descending for coffee, poodle-in-the-purse shoppers headed for Banana Republic, newlyweds trying to jog together, and wealthy retirees who are too old to be wearing bicycle shorts doing so anyway.

GREAT idea not to play off the theater. We did that and it ALMOST backfired on us.
We thought we were going to have to move and our people went nuts because I had branded us as a theater church.
We changed everything after that and now we are simply a church meets in a theater.
Big Difference.
