Two different questions have been circulating in my brain lately...
How do I trim down the vast library of books in my office from the past 8 years of accumulation, which is now rivaling the library of Congress? Do I e-bay them? Give them to Goodwill?
And... how do I tap into the knowledge and creativity of church planters out there who read my blog, but wouldn't be motivated to offer advice without some sort of incentive?
The answer > The great "Book-for-Ideas" giveaway. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to package 3 books of a common theme together and throw out a question that Matt and I are currently wrestling with in ministry. The most helpful piece of advice to us will win the goods, delivered to your doorstep.
The first book ensemble > The Creative Leader by Ed Young Jr, Spark the story behind Cirque du Soleil's creativity, and Cracking Creativity. Stay tuned...

Sounds like a great idea! Way to turn one problem into the answer for another.

Ben sounds like a great idea. Can I ask you one question that I have seeing that I am always giving my books away as well, due to us moving so much over the past years:
What have you done to keep the nuggets that you did gleam from each book? John Maxwell has his secretary type out all of his found nuggets from each book into a file. I have adopted that system as well but am always interested in learning a better way or hearing what others do so that we can pass around books and not lose those nuggets.

i think the phrase "use it or lose it" applies to me. =) If I can get it into my speaking, I don't forget it very quickly. In fact, I'm known to repeat a good story 2 or 3 times... =) Ahh, for the hope of a research assistant someday. =)

Ben, Is Research Assistant seriously a job (I know you said you dream of one, but do churches actually use them?) I'm a data analyst Tumor Registrar turned Director of Children's Ministry however, the thought of doing church research could turn my passion into a future job.

it is Tina, but probably only at really large churches for paid positions
