Perry Noble has a pretty ripping post about critics of his blog... and him as a person. Criticism is one of the unspoken, dark sides of being a pastor who blogs and podcasts. The main function of our job is communicating. We preach every Sunday, blog every day, cast vision, motivate leaders, write letters and e-mails constantly... And because we're "men of the cloth," every word we say is unreasonably expected to carry the full weight and immaculacy of God himself. What's worse... half of our readership is by people who don't necessarily like us and have too much time on their hands. =) It's actually kind of funny. But let me just say that it's impossible to communicate this much and not say something stupid occasionally... or at least something critics can poke holes in.
Darn it, I ended with a preposition.
Rats... I said "darn it." =)

WOW! I suppose blogging is really no different than preaching... expect criticism and know that if you are not getting any that it is on its way...
I thought Perry's response was appropriate.

Hooray for pastors who don't settle for playing it safe.
The world is a dangerous, cynical place but that shouldn't stop Jesus followers from speaking their mind.
Sometimes there is pressure for a sermon to finish all tied up and resolved, with a pretty bow on top.
Blogs shouldn't feel that pressure. And these unfinished daily thoughts are worth reading.
